How cool do these look?
While these may be a complicated design for my first blog post, this is the only one that I have documented and taken pictures of. Anyways, it turns out pretty cool. Now, since this is my first nail tutorial I regret to inform you that I did not document the step-by-step process for this design. I promise I'll try and do better next time. On that note, let's get started.
The first thing you should always do before you paint your nails is put a base coat on. It's going to protect your natural nail and depending on what kind you use,+ it can make your nails stronger. My favorite choice to use is the Original Nail Envy Nail Strengthener by O.P.I.
Ok so now that we have everything we need let's get started!!
- After you have your base coat on and it's dried, we're going to start with the Mint Sorbet. Put on one coat of the Mint Sorbet. Depending on how it looks, you may need another coat. The good thing about this design is that the splatters will cover up any imperfections.
- Once the Mint Sorbet is dry, take the China Glaze and put a blob of it on the wax paper. Take one of the straws that you cut in half and dip the bottom of the straw in the paint. Hold the straw about 3 to 4 inches away from the nail and forcefully blow on the straw. This should create a splattered look on your nail. This takes practice, be patient, you'll get the hang of it and find out what works for you.
- Repeat Step 2 for the Blue Me Away! and then for Posh Plum. You can do it in any order you would like, whatever you think will look the best.
- Finish with a topcoat of your choice. Personally I love Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. This stuff really does dry fast. Also don't be afraid to put a lot on, that's what's going to protect your awesome design.
Here are some extra tips for you:
- For an easy clean up put tape around your nails
- If you're not sure you're if you'll like the design, just try it on one nail
- I'm serious about the wax paper, especially if it's on a surface you care about, it makes for an easier clean up.
I hope you guys like this design. Comment and let me know what you think and if you tried it. If you do try it, share a picture!!
Let me know if there is anything you would like to see in the future. I hope my first blog post was an ok start. Have fun with this design!
Happy Painting!!
